Books with Festive Covers

This post is part of Top Ten Tuesday, run by Jana from That Artsy Reader Girl.

When December rolls around, there’s simply no escaping the festive season. It’s definitely time to pull out the Christmas jumpers, pour some mulled wine, and curl up on the couch with some yuletide reading.

I love ringing in the festive season with some Christmas-inspired reading. It’s such a cosy way to mark my favourite holiday.

Books I’m Thankful For

This post is part of Top 10 Tuesday run by Jana from That Artsy Reader Girl.

We don’t really have Thanksgiving in Ireland, which is a shame because the holiday contains many of the things I enjoy – friends, family, and food. A lot of food.

That’s not to say I can’t take on one of the fundamental things about this holiday, and give some praise to some books that made quite the impact on my life. These books have shaped me significantly, and they’re for sure books you should also pick up.

Books I Would Rename

This book is part of Top Ten Tuesday run by Jana of That Artsy Reader Girl.

A book’s title is one of the most important things of writing the book. Editors, agents, and authors argue and stress for months about the all important title (I think). But, the title isn’t always bang on. There are a number of titles I’d change up to reflect the contents of the book within. Not to pour any ill on the work of the editors.

Extraordinary Book Titles

This post is part of Top 10 Tuesday run by Jana from That Artsy Reader Girl.

Titles can be one of the best things about books. If a title is particularly interesting you bet it’s going straight in my basket. No matter what the blurb says, an eye-catching title can often be the first thing to drag me into a book.

These are just some of the books I’ve noticed on shelves and been instantly drawn to purely because of the title. Or, the title has made me laugh at my phone so much, I’ve added it straight to my Goodreads shelf. True love, eh?

Regardless of how the cover looks, if you’ve got a strong title – or even just one that made me laugh – you’ve got a reader in me.

Books with Numbers in the Title

This post is part of Top Ten Tuesday run by Jana from That Artsy Reader Girl.

Most people are either logistically inclined or creative minded. I am for sure the latter. I loved languages in school, and absolutely despised maths lessons. That fact is made even more interesting when you know my mother was my maths teacher for three years.

Surprisingly, this has meant I’ve also pretty much skipped any book with numbers and counting across the board. It took me a VERY long time to realise the significance of the chapter numbers in The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Nighttime (spoiler: they’re all prime numbers. I was almost finished before I realised, and that was because my Dad told me.)
