The start of the year is a good time to set new goals and aims for the coming year. There are a couple of things I’d really like to have ticked off when I’m sitting here this time next year. Let’s see if I actually do them.
Another year, another reading challenge to complete. Every year I set myself little tasks and targets I want to achieve in my reading, and given last year’s success I’m rather hopeful for this year.
As per usual, I’ll be setting myself a target of how many books I want to read, as well as attempting the PopSugar Reading Challenge for the sixth time. This year, though, there’s another one I want to try out – the Buzzwordathon from Books and Lala. Have I taken on too much?

I love sitting down at the beginning of the year and setting myself some goals for the coming year. With the year we’ve just had, I have had a rethink about some of my goals – I don’t think I’m going to be able to “visit a new place every month” in 2021 either.
Luckily, book resolutions are still something I can set and (hopefully) achieve. There are just a few things I would love to do by the end of the year.
The years are definitely passing a lot faster these days because I swear I wrote last year’s reading challenge just yesterday. I have just closed off that challenge from 2017, and let’s be real it did have a little bit of room for improvement. Thankfully, there’s a whole new year stretching out in front of me with some brand new prompts to tick off.
This year, I’m going to do my very best to make sure I don’t fall behind. I’ll be keeping track of the challenges in my reading journal, so I can be certain I have checked a prompt off.
With so many books out there that I really want to read, and a whole 365 days in which to read them, I am really hoping that this year, I’ll be finishing up with a majority of books ticked off from the two prompt challenges, and again have surpassed my Goodreads challenge. Do we be realistic, or head out with dreams of glory? Time to find out what’s in store.
