When it comes to reading, I like things to be just so. I’m quite meticulous about my books and my reading habits, and I like things to be in order. I know what I like, and the following things will definitely keep me engaged when it comes to reading.
This post is part of Top 10 Tuesday, run by Jana from That Artsy Reader Girl.
While we sit crying into our large Coke, lamenting what we think is a shambles of an adaptation, there’s no need to despair. It might be easy to forget that there are so many other great adaptations that have been just as good, if not maybe better, than their literary basis.
Yes, I did really say that. Sometimes, the movie completely does the book justice. It’s a huge crime among book bloggers to say it, I know, but I can think of just a few books where the screen comes pretty close to the story on the page.
Hey look, I managed to keep up a series on this blog for once. (Ok, this is only the second instalment, but still.)
For my April reading, I concentrated mainly on ARCs. I had quite a few of them to clear from my Netgalley shelf, and I had some physical copies too I wanted to finally get moved onto my “already read” shelf. I wanted to read at least ten ARCs, but I would have been happy enough if I’d ticked off eight.
I am, by my own admission, not a very fast reader. It can take me up to a week to read your average 300 page novel. But, every so often, inspiration springs forth from god knows where and I manage to beast through a whole book in just a day. It doesn’t happen quite as much as I’d like it to, but I think its rarity is what makes it all that more special.
Sometimes, I do find that magic lengthy book I just cannot put down, but more often than not the books that I manage it through within 24 hours are quite short. It still counts though, as every second spent reading matters.
I may have been blogging about books for almost seven years, but I’ve been reading a lot longer than that. There are a couple of books I met before I started blogging at all, but because they were books I read when I was younger I’ve never reviewed them here. I do aim to one day give them a full review here, but it’s nice to have a think back to where it all began for me.
I’ve had to dig deep into my past to look at some of my favourites from my pre blogging days. If you’re looking to turn back time a little with your reading habits, these would be a great place to start in my opinion. I’ve included a mix of the different genres I love reading, so hopefullly there’s something in there for everyone.
