Tag Thursday: The Quarter Year Crisis Book Tag

Whenever I see a new tag, I almost instantly join in. Róisín from Róisín’s Reading created a tag to go along with the Mid Year Freak Out Tag and the End of Year Book Tag.

It’s a good way to look back over the year that’s gone so far and check in with how your reading is going.

How many books have you read so far?

Up to the end of March I’d read 31 books. It’s well on the way to my target of 100 for the year.

Have you already found a book you think might be a 2022 favourite?

Of the new books I’ve read, Again Rachel has been the absolute highlight. It’s the only book so far I’ve given five stars to.

If not, what was your favourite book you read that wasn’t quite five star?

Of the books that haven’t gotten five stars, the highs are Idol by Louise O’Neill and The Love Hypothesis by Ali Hazelwood.

Any one star books, or what’s been your least favourite book of the year?

I don’t give out one stars, because if I feel the book going that badly I will simply DNF it. However, the book I enjoyed the least this year was Milkman by Anna Burns. None of the characters or locations in this book are named, which made it a difficult book for me to sink my teeth into.

Most read genre so far?

In a surprise to no one, I’ve read the most from either contemporary or romance.

A book that surprised you?

I went into Anybody Out There? by Marian Keyes with absolutely no idea what it was about and therefore no expectations. I was blown away by it, and enjoyed it so much.

Book that’s come out in 2022 already you want to read but haven’t yet?

There are a few books still on my radar. I’m excited to get to When You Get the Chance by Emma Lord as I really enjoy her writing style.

One goal you made that you’re succeeding at

My take on the PopSugar challenge has been going surprisingly well. There are definitely some prompts that will challenge me and take me out of my depth, but overall it’s been very successful.

One goal you made you need to focus on

I set myself the task of reading a book fully in German, cover to cover, and so far I have not done that. I haven’t even thought about doing it.

New to you Book Tubers/Bookstagrammer/Book Tokers for 2022 you recommend?

  1. This is a fantastic tag. I was answering the questions in my head as I read, and I don’t think I could give an honest answer for the first few. I haven’t read a book that just blew me away.
