The 12 Days of Christmas Book Tag

The 12 Days of Christmas is one of the world’s most popular Christmas carols, and a lovely traditional song at Yuletide. It’s not among my favourites, but I do like listening to it whenever it comes on the radio – or my Christmas Spotify playlist.

This tag originated on You Tube and was created by Lizzie Loves Books. It’s such a lovely way to ring in the season, and you won’t be able to get the song out of your head for days.

A Partridge in a pear tree: Favorite Stand-Alone Book?

One of my all time favourite books is Markus Zusak’s The Book Thief. I loved history when I was in school, and this was a real way I connected with the WWII section of my course. After all, a Ravenclaw will go to any lengths necessary to learn, right?

Two Turtle Doves: Fictional OTP/Favorite Ship?

For as long as I live, I will cheer for Mia and Michael from The Princess Diaries series by Meg Cabot. I know teenage romances rarely work out, but I honestly think Mia and Michael could go the distance.

Three French Hens: Favorite Trilogy?

I am completely in love with To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before by Jenny Han. Lara Jean is one of my favourite characters I’ve ever read, and I would love to be her best friend.

Four Calling Birds: Favorite Fictional Beast/Creature?

I have a soft spot for Buckbeak from the Harry Potter series. He seems so gentle and loving, and I loved the way the Golden Trio went to any length possible to save him, up to and including time travel.

Five Golden Rings: Show 5 Golden Books

Six Geese a Laying: Rotten egg- What’s your least favorite book?

There were a lot of books I met throughout 2019 I really didn’t like, but I must give the top spot to The Friend Zone by Abby Jiminez. It started out really well for me, but I fell more and more out of form with it as it went on. The ending absolutely cemented it as Not A Good Book for me.

Seven Swans a Swimming: Show a Book with Water on the Cover

Eight Maids a Milking: What fictional food do you wish you could taste?

I would absolutely love to eat Lara Jean Covey Song’s chocolate chip cookies.

Nine Ladies Dancing: Favorite dance between two characters?

I haven’t read many books where characters dance. But, I do really love the ballroom scene in Lindsey Kelk’s Always the Bridesmaid between Maddie and Tom. It’s super cute, and it’s the beginning of the whole romance section of the book.

Ten Lords a Leaping: Favorite Book-To-Movie-Adaptation?

I absolutely loved To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before. I’ve seen the film more times than I can count, and I love Lara Jean and Peter together.

Eleven Pipers Piping: Favorite Book-To-Movie-Adaptation Soundtrack?

If Disney counts, then I choose the soundtrack to the Hunchback of Notre Dame. It’s one of the best, and most criminially underrated, Disney soundtracks.

Twelve Drummers Drumming: It’s the end of the song; what’s your favorite book ending?

I loved the ending to Matilda by Roald Dahl, and I think I will always have a soft spot for Ms Honey who basically stepped in and saved the day.
