Somehow, this tag escaped me in 2017. I love looking back over my reading year, so I’m a little bummed I missed it last year. Though, this year I’ve definitely got it ready to go to feature just before we say goodbye to 2018. I think those last few days of the year are the perfect time to look back over the year you’ve just had.
You can find this tag pretty easily around the Booksphere, so be sure you take part and add your thoughts too.
Best book you’ve read in 2018
I have given a couple of five stars in 2018, but I think the absolute top spot has to go to Clean by Juno Dawson. I still think about that book quite often.
Best sequel you’ve read in 2018
I feel I haven’t read a whole lot of sequels this year. The only sequel I’ve read was Fierce Fragile Hearts by Sara Barnard. Luckily, I did really enjoy it.
New release you haven’t read yet, but want to
Are We All Lemmings and Snowflakes by Holly Bourne
Biggest disappointment
Leah on the Offbeat by Becky Albertalli. I loved Simon vs so I had some pretty high hopes for this. Unfortunately, it wasn’t to be.
Biggest surprise
How Not to Disappear by Clare Furniss. I expected a light hearted read, but was blown away by how deep it actually was.
Favourite new author (debut or new to you)
Laura Stevens. I adored The Exact Opposite of Okay and I can’t wait for her second book. I think it comes out in 2019.
Newest fictional crush
I don’t get a lot of crushes from books. I’m not very good at picturing characters in my head.
Newest favourite character
Izzy O’Neill from The Exact Opposite of Okay, or Ro from Paper Avalanche by Lisa Williamson
Book that made you cry
Again, I’m not a huge crier at books. Clean did get me a little emotional though.
Book that made you happy
Simon vs the Homo Sapien Agenda by Becky Albertalli.
Most beautiful book you bought or received this year
The cover of Tangleweed and Brine by Deirdre Sullivan is astounding.
What books do you need to read by the end of the year?
I’ve got a huge TBR with five books that realistically, I won’t be reading, no. But if I finish My Mum Tracy Beaker I’m happy.
Simon vs. makes me happy too! 😄 Great post – I love being able to look back at all the best books from the year
Awesome post! I did my own End of Year Book Tag because I saw the one you did in January 2017. 😊💖
