Tag Thursday: The Bookaholics Anonymous Tag

My name is Aoife, and I am a bookaholic. I genuinely have a problem, resulting in a book buying ban and a need for a brand new bookshelf. You can find me at my local bookaholics anonymous meeting. Or in a bookshop.

This tag, which will hopefully cure me even just a little, was taken from Donna over at Chocolate n Waffles.

What do you like about buying new books?

I love the anticipation of your next read (or, a book you promise to read but that stays on your shelf for six years before bringing to a jumble sale) being right there in your hands.

How often do you buy new books?

Far more often than my bank balance actually allows for.

Bookstore or online book shopping – Which do you prefer?

Physical bookstore. I am honestly like a child in a toy shop when I get into a bookstore.

Do you have a favourite bookshop?

I have a few, but my ultimate favourite has to be The Book Centre in Waterford city. It’s in an old cinema and has three floors filled with wonder (and books. And stationary.)

Do you pre-order books?

I have on occasion, but I don’t do it too often.

Do you have a monthly book buying limit?

I’ve had to recently set myself a little challenge wherein I don’t buy a book until I’ve read one book a month from my long time TBR. So far, I’ve read three books and bought ten so it’s going really, really well.

Book buying bans – Are they something for you?

They should be, if I could stick to one I’d be so proud of myself.

How big is your wishlist?

Huge, so if a kind stranger with a never ending wallet wants to treat me to something from it be my guest.

  1. I laughed out loud at “it’s going really, really well.” I identify with all of this post on a deep level. 😂

For book buying bans, I gave up buying books for Lent a couple years ago. I managed to make it, but I felt like a junkie half the time, itching to buy more books!
